Trichomoniasis
|
| Trichomoniasis
is a sexually transmitted disease caused by a microorganism (a protozoa)
called Trichomonas vaginalis. Symptoms often get worse after periods. Although
the organism is present in the urinary tracts of men, it is usually the women
who get the infection. Its symptoms are not very different from BV, except
that the discharge in this case is musty smelling and green or yellowish in
color. Like in other STDs, both partners must be treated simultaneously with
oral antibiotics for Trichomoniasis. Pregnant women who contract Trich, must
seek medical attention immediately as an infection can harm the fetus and
complicate labor. |
