Change in Bowel Habits
It starts in the intestinal of stomach that is from small intestine
till large intestine which is made up of colon and rectum. The
complete conversion that takes place in colon might cause
colorectal to bleed which inturn converts to hemorrhoids.
- Present in 43% of patients, this symptom has several different
presentations. Often, it occurs in the form of diarrhea,
particularly if the tumor has a large villous component.
- These patients may have hypokalemia on laboratory studies.
- The capacity of the rectal reservoir may mask the presence of a
small lesion.
- Some patients experience a change in caliber of the stool.
- Large tumors can cause obstructive symptoms.
- Tumors located low in the rectum can cause a feeling of incomplete
evacuation and tenesmus.
Habits of Bowel Problems
- Go as soon as you feel the urge, or as soon as possible, don't
delay, your body absorbs water from the stool making it harder and
harder.
- Try to avoid excessive straining during bowel movement, just relax
and let it kind of drop out by itself, don't try to rush things,
take your time.
- Don't read during bowel movement, do what needs to be done and get
out, reading and sitting for to long on the toilet is one of the
worst mistakes you can make. Prolonged sitting causes unnecessary
pressure on your hemorrhoids and makes condition even worse.
- Try to train yourself to have regular bowel movements, which ever
time of the day is best for you, usually the best time is in the
morning, right after breakfast and while you are at your home, where
you can use your shower or bidet to rinse.
- Avoid using toilet paper, it can cause further irritation, use
moist wipes like Tucks, or you can use baby pads, pre-moistened pads
are excellent when you are away from home, always carry a pack with
you, even better is to use shower or bidet to rinse, be gentle but
thorough. Make sure to use gentle soaps, to avoid further
irritation.
- Wear cotton underwear, it wicks away moisture, and does not
irritate the skin
- Use talc powder, to soothe irritation, and help with moisture
control.
- Exercise regularly, 3 to 5 times per week, a brisk 20 - 30 minute
walk will significantly improve your bowel movement.
