How does Eczema Start Developing
Human skin is a complex organ just like the liver, lungs, heart and stomach. Just like there are many factors that affect the function of these organs, the skin too reacts to a variety of external substances. The human skin has a very complex structure and is made of a number of various kinds of cells.
The human skin has three basic layers;
1.Epidermis (the outermost layer of skin),
2.Dermis (the middle layer of skin) and
3.Subcutaneous tissue (deep layer of skin).
Each layer of the skin has it own response to the substance with causes irritation. The common response to an irritant is the firing of the skin cells in that area, which leads to other symptoms like itching and scratching.
During Eczema the skin causes extra red and white blood cells and the resistant system releases a number of natural chemicals called “antibodies” and “cytokines”. The main function of the antibodies is to release by the white blood cells, which fight invading objects like bacteria or viruses.
For example:
When the skin is burnt or if there is a cut, there will be firing of the skin. In Eczema
this reaction is triggered off even when there is no overrunning object. That is why the antibodies and other chemicals end up harming the skin and the skin breaks in rashes. An Eczema
is an over reaction of the body’s resistant system and the scratching of the skin is a crude reaction to removing the foreign body on the skin that is causing the itch.
The skin is the largest resistant organ of our body, which performs many different functions. The outermost layer of the skin acts as a defense mechanism against any infesting object and protects the external part from entering the body. Apart from that the skin keeps the temperature of the inner body fixed by sweating and radiating heat. Skin contains millions of sweat glands and lots of sensory cells that detect and send signs to the brain about touch, temperature and pain. Eczema
can break up these normal functions by making the skin more sensitive to external factors, by inner resistance, loss of skin moisture and heat and also getting the skin cells to itch and pain. When the outer layers are agreed the skin is no longer such an effective barrier that getting infections to easily enter the body.
Although a lot of brand is attached to skin diseases, Eczema
is not a transmissible disease. Still people who have sharp forms of Eczema
may feel very socially witting since the rash is so apparently visible to outsiders. It also campaigns loss of self-admiration and trust in some people.
